The Senior Development team made it 5 wins from 5 as they went top of the Senior League Division 2.

Despite their league position, it was St Andrews who settled first forcing an early corner which was cleared without alarm. Hinckley were struggling to retain possession which led to a fairly quiet first 15 minutes.

The game burst into life on the 20-minute mark where a neat interchange between King and Greenwood set King free on goal and he calmly stroked the ball home from 12 yards out. Hinckley now had a foot hold in the game but struggled to create anything clear cut whilst at the other end Little in the Hinckley goal had to be quick off his line to prevent a break away chance against the run of play.

A moment of quality from Harry Smith eventually extended the lead on 43 minutes. A free kick 25 yards out from the left was curled over the wall into the top corner and Hinckley went into the break 2-0 up.

After a very passive first half, Hinckley were immediately on the front foot at the start of the first going close on a couple of occasions. After 53 minutes it was 3-0 when some good play down the right-hand side from Malik resulted in King tapping home from 6 yards out.
On 61 minutes it was 4-0 when King completed his hat trick. A knock down from a corner fell to King who prodded home from 4 yards out. Chances were starting to come frequently, and it was no surprise to see a fifth goal was added on 72 minutes. More good work down the right-hand side left Harry Smith to drive into the 18-yard box on the angle, spotting the goalkeeper was getting ready for a pull back, Smith calmly beat the goalkeeper at his near post.

Hinckley were now in complete control as their fitness began to show through with Little in the Hinckley goal having nothing to do.

The second half was rounded off with a fantastic team goal on 81 minutes. Playing out from the back the ball was worked to the right-hand side where good work from Geary and Buswell set Smith through on goal for his hat-trick. Showing tremendous composure and unselfishness, Smith squared the ball to King (already with his hat-trick) to tap home from 3 yards out.

With results around the league going in Hinckley’s favour, the 6-0 victory sent Hinckley to the top of the table.
