Simon Marriot's Under 16s development group welcomed Burntwood to the Leicester Road Stadium for a 10.30am kick off 01/10/22
With a pitch looking immaculate and ideal for football following the previous evenings deluge, the game got under way with Burntwood applying some early pressure.
The game was an even affair until HLRFC struck in the 29th minute with a far post header from Cauley Wilford. The goal proved to be a turning point in the tie with a second from Wilford arriving in the 37th.
The seconf half got under way and continued in the same vein as the first with some great football allowing Cauley Wilford to strike again 17 minutes after the restart with a further finish adding to his tally on 22 minute mark. Jasper Clarke concluded the scoring, and added to an impressive personal performance in the 25th.
Burntwood were not without chances but a composed performance from what proved to be inbreachable HLRFC back line with Spencer Stacey, a presence in goal, proved too much to for the visitors.
A whole teamperformace straight out of the top drawer, with some of the boys on duty the night before for the under 18s away to Nuneaton Borough, put the lid on a 5-0 win over a spirited, talented and sporting Burntwood Side.
Final score at the Leicester Road Stadium Hincklegt LRFC U16s 5 Burntwood 0
