After back to back victories over Grantham Town and Boldmere St Michaels, The Knitters were brought down to earth with a bump last weekend suffering a 2-0 defeat to Coventry Sphinx, halting the momentum that was gathering around the team. Neil Lynes side will be hoping to bounce back from this defeat as they welcome playoff chasing Sporting Khalsa to Leicester Road this weekend.
Despite last week's result Hinckley still sit out the relegation places 3 points clear of Rugby Town who occupy the last relegation spot. Victory this weekend along with positive results elsewhere will start to see Neil Lynes side put daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
Sporting Khalsa come to Leicester Road in 4th place in the NPL Midlands but have suffered 2 defeats so far this week losing to Shepshed Dynamo last Saturday and Loughborough Students this past Tuesday, both sides around The Knitters. Despite these defeats everyone knows the danger of this Khalsa side, who only a fortnight ago travelled to Corby Town and comfortably defeated the title challengers 4-0.
Hinckley are yet to beat Khalsa at step 4, although in the two games already played between the sides in 2024 a draw has been the end result with The Knitters snatching a late 2-2 draw at Leicester Road in March thanks to a Brennan free kick and back in September Read giving Hinckley the lead before being pegged back for a 1-1 draw.
It promises to be an enthralling game this Saturday as Hinckley LRFC look to break their Khalsa duck at step 4.
