With the sun shining down from a crisp, blue sky, you could be forgiven for thinking that Spring was already here. With a spring in their step, Hinckley welcomed Loughborough Students to the Leicester Road Stadium. A highly vocal crowd of 150 responded to a great performance from Hinckley LR as they sought to do the season double over Loughborough following their 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture last November.

After the initial skirmishes, Hinckley LRFC got off to a great start, taking an early lead with two goals within the first 20 minutes, putting them in a commanding position by half-time.

The first goal came at 13 minutes, from a superbly taken in-swinging corner by Dom Brennan. Ben Humphreys, taking no prisoners, commanded the back post to head Hinckley into a 1-0 lead.

At the 20-minute mark, Brennan made his second assist of the match with a perfectly slotted pass, putting it on a dime for Andrew Wooldridge, who beat the keeper to put Hinckley two-up.

Early in the second half, Hinckley increased their lead. Seventeen minutes into the half, with the ball in the hands of the Hinckley keeper, Jake Laban, there appeared to be no danger from a Loughborough point of view. However, a long kick from Laban found its way through the opposition defence and fell into the path of Aaron Nuttall, who, with the deftest of touches, guided the ball over the keeper for goal number 3.

In addition to their attacking prowess, Hinckley displayed strong defensive and midfield dominance throughout the game. Controlling the game, limiting chances for the opposition and creating many scoring opportunities. The Hinckley keeper made several crucial saves to keep a clean sheet and secure the victory.

After 30 games, Hinckley are in 14th place in the league with 36 points. On this display, their position in the league is secure for another season.
