Neil Lyne Introduces New Blood

Neil Lyne Introduces New Blood

Website Admin8 Aug - 16:09

New faces change the squad dynamic.

Ahead of our season opener on Saturday, Hinckley LRFC are pleased to announce the signings of Harry Wakefield, Jake Laban and Andrew Kear.

All three players join up with Neil Lyne’s squad ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Corby Town having impressed throughout pre-season.

Wakefield, 24, is a well travelled striker who came in just before transfer deadline to bolster the squad for last season's final run in. Harry has plenty of experience at Step 3 and 4 having taken in stops at Matlock, Basford, Ilkeston and Shepshed and has been on Neil Lyne's radar since his academy days with Leicester City.

Laban, 20, is a young goalkeeper, who manager Lyne also tried to bring in before the transfer deadline last season. Jake who resembles a young "Dave Bessant" has trained well in pre-season and has quickly established a rapport with Head Goalkeeping Coach and former Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Hereford keeper Ken Hughes. He also made a standout appearance in the pre-season fixture against National League side Tamworth, where his key saves helped Hinckley to a 1-0 win. Jake joins us from Coalville Town following their unfortunate demise earlier in the summer.

Kear, 22, is a local lad who joins us from fellow Northern Premier League side Rugby Town. Andrew was another one on Neil Lyne's radar before getting injured last season nonetheless, as soon as he was fit and mentally in the right place he was quickly added into the pack. Andrew like the others has had a strong pre-season and was another standout player in the fixtures against National League Tamworth and Step 3 side Kettering Town. He is a versatile defender, who can play at either centre half or right back and brings in healthy competition and reinforcement to Hinckley’s defence.

Neil Lyne has also continued his player development approach by leaving the door open for Sam Carroll, Brogan Greenwood, Chris Jones and Luke Jefferey to stake a claim for a regular place in the squad and any one of them could feature on Saturday.
